Gila/Mimbres Community Radio

The last few months seem to have gone by in a flash but after this long period of seeming inactivity, we are facing new - and exciting! - challenges.

As you're probably aware, the Digital TV transition has now come about and a new FCC chairman has been approved. Originally scheduled in early February of this year, DTV was pushed back to June and is now a done deal.

So what does the FCC do for an encore? Make decisions on the slew of applications for Non-Commercial / Educational Full Power FM applications like ours, that's what! The FCC moves in "Mysterious Ways" but the skinny is that we might have a decision by the end of this year or early next year.

Our broadcast engineer has reviewed all the competing applications in our group and after careful consideration of the objective criteria used by the FCC, we appear to be the winners! Thus we are, uh, "cautiously optimistic."

AND, we are looking at a major funding opportunity!!. Now don't get too overheated as this is not a sure thing but if all goes well, we could have principal startup financing in place by about this time next year.
